Smart Arm Assembly

The Smart-Arm system error-proofs your assembly ensuring that every screw is in the correct location at the right torque. With the option of confirming that the correct bit and screws are used by adding the Bit-Block and Smart-Bins.

The system automatically selects torque programs from the Screwdriver Controller based on the preprogrammed locations. A fixture to hold your work in the same place every time is recommended.

A simple Job-Box style Smart-Control Box is used for programming which torque program is to be used at each location. With IO available for the Bit Selection Block, and Smart-Bins. No PC is required.

The Smart-Arm consists of a torque reaction arm with encoders mounted at the two pivot points. The encoders record the angles of the two pivot points. The Smart-Control Box converts the angle counts of the encoders to the precise X-Y position of the Screwdriver. The two arms are the same length, allowing for the elbow pivot to be on the right or left side without affecting the x-y location of the screwdriver.

The X-Y location of the screwdriver is manually linked to one of eight torque setting on the Kolver EDU1AEPLC/CC controller with the jog dial on the Smart-Control Box. NO PC is needed.

Dimensions: (custom sizes available upon request)
  • X-Axis travel: 15 inches
  • Arm radius: 22 inches
Notes:
  • The Smart-Arm can interface with any intelligent screwdriver that stores multiple torque programs. To do so the correct interface cable is required. Please let us know if you would like a quotation for a specific interface cable.
  • Sequence Control option may be added for an additional level of error proofing. Sequence steps such as torques and bin picks can be programmed and verified during assembly.
