Torque Range: 4.4 to 31 in/lbs
The BRL35FR offers a wider torque range than any of the standard RAF screwdrivers--going below 5 in/lbs and up to 30 in/lbs in one tool. Some RPM capability has been compromized to achieve this wide torque range.
As are all BRL tools, the 35FR is a Clutch Control Screwdriver with a Brushless DC motor. Brushless DC motors have several advantages as compared to standard motors using Carbon Brushes.
Why Brushless:
- Wider Torque Range: The BRL35FR offers a wider torque range than any of the standard RAF screwdrivers. Going below 5 in/lbs and up to 31 in/lbs in one tool. Some RPM capability has been compromized to achieve this wide torque range. Because Brushless motor commutation is accomplished electronically, brushless DC motors are capable of very high speeds and torque without arcing.
- Higher Duty cycles: Brushless motors have a lower thermal resistance and are capable of operating in a wider temperature range.
- Sophisticated motion control capabilities: The lack of brushes allows the BRL Series to have a broad closed-loop speed range. Also, brushless motors have a higher torque to inertia ratio, high starting energies, and high breakaway torques.
- Small and lighter: Because they have lower thermal resistance, are capable of operating in wider temperature ranges, have higher torque to inertia ratios, and have greater acceleration, smaller brushless DC motors can do the same job that their much larger counterparts would otherwise be used for. This results in an overall cost reduction.
- No brushes means a maintenance reduction and no brush residue contamination to bearings or the environment. There is no arcing associated with brushes, and therefore, are safer in explosive environments. Brushless DC motors are also safer in contact with fluids than brush DC motors.
- Quieter: Because there is no brush arcing or brush commutation, brushless motors are much quieter both electrically and audibly.
The BRL series operates by setting a torque, speed and ramp on a controller, then validating the resulting torque on a torque tester or rotary transducer. The controller, purchased separately, is required for this tool to operate. Choose a Controller from the list below. The EDU2BR is the standard unit. The EDU2BR/SG offers the same functionality with the addition IO for expanded control
