Joint Simulators/Run Down Kits
The Joint Simulator attaches to the built-in Transducer of a torque tester. It has a 1/4" Hex interface on the other end that the screwdriver plugs directly into. Internally the joint simulator has a series of Belleville washers. The pattern that the washers are stacked in defines the amount of rotation/hardness in the joint simulator.
Joint hardness must be considered when configuring your tool set. Joint hardness is defined by the amount of rotation in the clamping portion on the tightening process.
- Hard joints are defined as a joint in which it takes the fastener less than a 30° turn to get the fastener from fitting snugly to reaching torque
- Soft joints are defined as a joint in which it takes the fastener more than a 720° turn, or two full rotations, to get from fitting snugly to reaching torque
Kolver joint simulators are shipped with the washers stacked to provide a medium joint, meaning rotation between 30° and 720° unless requested otherwise.

It keeps a summary of good and complete assemblies as well as of bad and incomplete ones throughout the production day.
